About
My name is Tereza Kalábková. I am an architect working in the field of building design, and I am interested in architecture at every scale. I enjoy small interventions that simply help strengthen something that already works, interior projects for spaces that are still searching for their purpose, as well as projects that need to be defined from the very beginning – from the initial study, through the permitting process, all the way to realisation.
The function itself is not what matters most to me. I enjoy working on family houses, public buildings and small-scale urban projects with the same interest.
I am used to working independently and I have experience with the entire permitting process – from communication with authorities and technical infrastructure administrators to the coordination of individual disciplines. All of this with the use of BIM.
Approach
Place
Where there are no people, there is no place. And where there is no place, people are missing too.
I believe that, especially today, in a world full of information noise, people need to meet again. And where else, if not in well-designed places and spaces.
Scale
For me, the most important measure of a successful design is the final sense of satisfaction it brings — when a new intervention draws life into a place or space.
Material
Material is an important part of the design. In the exterior, it helps us respond to the climatic conditions of a particular place, while in the interior it helps shape the space, giving it its character and intended function.
Thinking
Architecture is always a new and complex puzzle with no clear instructions. Each one needs to be approached individually. And in the end, there is always a solution.
